Clarice Pearson Smith, 87, of Forty Fort passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 9, 2012, at her home.

Born in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Irene Donn Pearson. She was a graduate of Nanticoke High School and Penn State University, where she received her bachelor's degree in education. For many years, Mrs. Smith was an educator at Hanover Area School District. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Kingston, Wyoming Valley Women's Club and Order of Easter Star Harmony Chapter 58, Wyoming.

Clarice was a wonderful, gentle woman who had many friends in her life. She was committed to her community being involved in various events.

Preceding her in death was her husband, James W. Smith.

Surviving are sons, David Smith, Forty Fort, with whom she resided; James N. Smith and his wife, Laura, Wilmington, N.C.; granddaughters, Gina Elizabeth, Maria and Elisa Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with the Rev. Paul Metzloff of the Holy trinity Lutheran Church of Kingston.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
