Harry Cleveland Fine Jr., 80, of Larksville closed his eyes to rest on Friday, June 13, 2014, at his Larksville Mountain home, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren who during his final moments sang his favorite hymn, "Softly and Tenderly," while holding him in their arms.

Mr. Fine Jr. was born in Plymouth on Nov. 26, 1933, and was the son of the late Harry Cleveland Sr. and the late Susan Fisher Fine.

Harry served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1960 during the Korean conflict. He proudly served on the USS Navarro APA215, USS Rockbridge APA228, and the USS Dual APA16.

After serving in the Navy, Harry and Thelma returned to the Wyoming Valley to raise their family. He proudly completed his GED while working as a welder at Royer Foundry where he eventually became the shift foreman.

Harry's hobbies included fishing and hunting in his younger years. He was musically gifted, playing the guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin and the piano. His favorite times were making music with friends and family. During his most recent years, Harry's joy came from singing along with his kids and grandkids to his old-time favorite songs accompanied by guitar.
