John Anthony Spagnola, 71, beloved husband, father, son and brother, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014, at his residence.

He was a native of Wilkes-Barre.
He was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War where he was a member of the 19th Combat Engineers, a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, G.I. Joe Post 244, Veterans of Foreign Wars 1170, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 89 and Vietnam Veterans of America 454.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Alice Hughes Spagnola; brother, Robert Spagnola; and sisters, Virginia and Regina Spagnola.
He is survived by his wife, the former Brenda Durbin; children, Alice Spagnola, Carol (Tom) Johnson and Anthony (Emily) Spagnola; sisters, Mary Alice Drahus and Joan Pastorelli; and grandchildren, Kayla and Sarah Johnson and Dominic Spagnola. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Owen Funeral Home–Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, Ky. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial with full military honors will be held at noon Monday in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, Ky.
