Mary A. Miano, 81, of Exeter passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at her home surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Exeter, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Millie Licata Pepe.

Mary was a member of Corpus Christi Parish at Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston.

She was a graduate of Exeter High School and received her undergraduate degree from Misericordia University, as well as her master's degree from the University of Scranton.

Mary was a beloved elementary school teacher, having taught in the Wyoming Area School District for 40 years, where she also served as principal for five years. She positively impacted the lives of countless students and colleagues.

Mary is survived by her caring brother, Phil Pepe, Exeter; her daughter, Dyan Billal; her beloved granddaughter, Sofia, both of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; and Sofia's father, Mancini Billal; daughter, Denise Anastasio (Steven), New York City; her dearest friend, Helen Rava, Duryea; and many loving friends and relatives.

Those attending the funeral services on Thursday are asked to go directly to the church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston, with the Rev. Joseph Pisaneschi as celebrant.

Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.

Interment will be in West Pittston Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Gena and Britney for their loving and compassionate care of Mary during her illness.
