Ralph N. Fitch Jr., 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, after a courageous nine-month battle with mesothelioma.

Born in Dallas on Jan. 14, 1937, he was the son of the late Ralph Nelson Fitch Sr. and Janet Thomas Fitch. He graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1954.

He and his brothers and father began the family company of R.N. Fitch & Sons Plumbing and Heating. He left to work for the next seven years at Air Products before getting his license to sell insurance for Allstate Insurance Co. In 1991 he was able to start his own agency, Fitch Insurance Agency Inc.

In 1959 he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Bunney Fitch, with whom he would have shared 55 years of marriage on June 13, 2014. Together they raised three daughters who were their pride and joy.

Everything in Ralph's life was centered around his family. He spared nothing for his girls and worked hard his entire life to provide them. He would do whatever was needed to help any member of his family. Ralph was quick with a helping hand or a beer and an ear to listen.

Ralph, or "Wolfie" as he liked to be called, loved camping, campfires, a few beers or a Crown and water around the bar and taking care of his house and 10 acres. He was known for his parties and will be sorely missed at upcoming family gatherings.

Ralph was a corporal in the Marine Corps Reserves, serving from 1955 until his discharge in 1962. He was a 50-year member of George M. Dallas Lodge 531 and also a member of the Consistory of Bloomsburg and the Irem Temple Shrine.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Jane Fitch and Barbara Fitch Jordan.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Fitch, Dallas; daughters, Dr. Nancie Fitch and husband, Chris Good, Dallas; Judy Fitch Guinnoso and husband, Patrick, Souderton; and Dr. Stacey Fitch, Royersford; grandchildren, Andrew and Patrick Guinnoso, Souderton; Christopher (CJ) Jr. and Amanda Good, Dallas; brothers, Ronald Fitch and wife, Carol; Drew Fitch and wife, Doti; and David Fitch and wife, Bonnie, all of Dallas; 22 nieces and nephews; 43 great-nieces and great-nephews; 18 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. The Rev. Judy L. Walker, pastor of Shavertown United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Private interment will be made in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, Philadelphia Tri-State Chapter, Rydal Square, 500 Old York Road, Suite 110, Jenkintown, PA 19046.
