William Scott (Bill) Correll of Exeter passed away in Celtic Health Hospice surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, following a courageous battle with colon and liver cancer.

Bill was born and raised in Laurel Run, the son of the late Horace V. and Arline Eroh Correll.

Bill attended Laurel Run borough schools and graduated from Coughlin High School in 1956.

He spent two years in the Army and then worked as a tractor-trailer driver for United Parcel Service, where he was a union steward for 43 years. He retired in 2003.

Bill was also a charter member of the Laurel Run Volunteer Fire Department, was recording secretary of the Teamsters Union 401 and on the board of directors of the Par-Del Credit Union. He also was a member of the Lithuanian Club in Exeter, the American Legion in Wilkes-Barre Township and Swoyersville, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Dupont, and the Laurel Run Primitive Methodist Church.

Bill is survived by his son, Christopher William Correll, Laurel Run; daughter, Jennifer Scafella and her significant other, Ben Weirich, Wilkes-Barre; granddaughters, Jessica Stepanski and her husband, Jamie, Miners Mills; and Erin Scafella, Wilkes-Barre; his former wife, Julia (Judy) Carey Correll, Laurel Run; his companion, Cathy Mackin, and her three neices, Exeter; his brother, LeRoy H. Correll and his wife, Thelma, Shickshinny Lake; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the Celtic Hospice and their nurses for the wonderful care given to Bill in his time of need.

Funeral services will be private for the family and will be held from McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top, with burial in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Hobbie.
