C. Ralph Daniel, Jr., MD


Dr. C Ralph Daniel, Jr., was born in Blakeley, Georgia on July 23, 1925. He was the youngest of six children and grew up in a loving family during the depression. He was the only sibling to attend college. He was first in his class in high school and was accepted to the University of Georgia at age 16. He finished college at age 18 near the top of his class and was accepted to Emory University Medical School. After graduating near the top of his class, he did an internship at Charity Hospital, New Orleans, LA. Upon completing his internship, he moved to Jackson, MS and went into general practice with his uncle, Dr. Maxwell Berman. Shortly thereafter, he met Beverly Gordon and they were wed in 1950. Their first son, C Ralph III, was born in 1952 in Columbus, Ohio, which was a staging area for the US Navy. Beverly and Ralph Daniel III lived in the Canal Zone from 1952-1953, while Dr Daniel, Jr was in the Navy. In 1953, the family moved to New Orleans, where Dr Daniel did his Medicine Residency at Charity Hospital. In 1956, the family moved back to Jackson, MS, where Dr Daniel was in private practice in internal medicine. Their second son, David Gordon Daniel, was born in 1956. Dr. Daniel had many happy travels with Beverly and their children and hunted all over North and South America. His beloved wife, Beverly, died in March, 1992.

Dr Daniel married Joan Bradshaw in September, 1993. Dr Daniel retired in 1999. Dr Daniel and his beloved wife, Joan, spent many happy years traveling the globe and at their summer home in Mountain Air, Burnsville, NC. Joan spent every waking minute by his side until he passed away. He is survived by sons, Dr Ralph Daniel III (Melissa) and Dr David Daniel (Lisa), grandsons Carl, Jonathan, Noah, and Ted and granddaughter, Beverly. Grandson David Gordon Daniel passed away in 2004. Dr Daniel was a long time member and supporter of Beth Israel Congregation. He was adored by his family, friends, patients and acquaintances. Many of his patients say that they owe their health and their life to Dr. Daniel.

The family makes a special thanks to his caregivers, Phyllis, Ayanna, Pam and Juanita.
