Howard Williams, Sr., 92, a retired brick mason, died Tuesday February 26, 2013, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. Visitation is Thursday, February 28, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Lakeover Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson. Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday at New Hope Baptist Church (5202 Watkins Dr.), followed by burial at Garden Memorial Park.

Mr. Williams was born in Hubb, MS. He enlisted in the US Army in 1942 during WWII. He served as Staff Sargent with the 1871st Engineering Aviation Battalion and participated in military campaigns in New Guinea, Leyte, and Luzon of the Philippines Islands, subsequently receiving several distinguished medals including the highly prestigious Bronze Star for meritorious service.
