James Andrew Ely

Shaw

Mr. James Andrew "Bubba" Ely, age 93, died on April 23, 2014. A lifelong resident of Shaw, MS. He graduated from Shaw High School and Tulane University where he excelled at football and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served in the Navy as a Second Lieutenant on a P.T. boat during World War II. He was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church and also served on the Delta Electric Board for over fifty years. His wife, Betty Lou Dahlberg Ely and his son, James Andrew Ely lll preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Hartwell, Mrs. Beckett Howorth, Elisabeth Ely; and his son Lars Ely (Cay); nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2 at 10:00 at the St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Indianola with a reception after the service in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Indianola, MS.

The family is deeply grateful to Mrs. Glenda " Penda" Bounds for her many years of loving care and friendship.
