Lewis Venable Wells, Jr., 71, died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Hospice Ministries. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Pinelake Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Sebrell Funeral Home and 12 Noon Wednesday at Pinelake Baptist Church. Mr. Wells was born on October 21, 1942, in Jackson, MS, the son of the late Lewis Venable Wells, Jr. and Frankie Mae Leon Wells. A graduate of Provine High School, he continued his education at the Louisiana State University, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering. After graduation, he began his career working in the construction industry. Mr. Wells moved to New Mexico and began his construction company, Lewis Wells Contracting. He owned and operated his business for 25 years, recently moving home to Mississippi. In his retirement, he enjoyed building furniture to sell at local flea markets. Mr. Wells was an avid LSU sports fan, and enjoyed following Tiger Athletics. A veteran, he served his country in the Air Guard. He will be most remembered as a loving father, a devoted grandfather, a beloved brother and friend to all who knew him. Survivors include, son, Lewis V. Wells, III and wife Kelley of Brandon; son, Derek K. Wells and wife Lisa of Brandon; son, Craig Wells and wife Christy of Brandon; grandchildren, Kirk, Chandler, Braxton, Jake, Swayze and John Curtis Wells, Nick Churchill, Dane Spell and Hannah and J. Leslie Hardin. He is also survived by brother, Mike Wells and wife Henrietta of Biloxi; brother, David Wells and wife Becky of Pearl; sister, Susan Burrow and husband Alex of Jackson; sister, Cheryl Thornton and husband Victor of Jackson; sister, Charlotte Mann and husband James of Madison; sister, Jean Gardner of Brandon and many other loving family and friends.
