Dr. Malcom Maurice Leach


Dr. Malcom Maurice Leach, 88, died Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford, MS. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in New Hebron, MS.

Born in Indianola, MS, to the late Jack and Mary Giardina Johnson Leach, Mr. Leach grew up in Jackson where he graduated from Central High School. He subsequently obtained a Bachelor's degree from Mississippi College, a Master's Degree from Louisiana State University, a Master's Degree in Divinity from the First Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY and a Doctorate in Divinity from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Malcolm retired as a minister in Mississippi after previously serving in Indiana, New York and Tennessee. Dr. Leach is a veteran of World War II, having served in Japan. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Helen Lee Leach.

He is survived by two sons, Richard Leach and his wife, Sherrie, and David Leach and his wife, Donna; a brother, Bill Giardina, a sister, Mary Helen Clackley; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
