Donald "Duck" Dunn, celebrated, legendary Stax bass player, died in Tokyo, Japan on May 13, 2012 at the age of 70. He was born to Nana Belle and James Dunn on November 24, 1941 in Memphis, TN. He lived in Memphis and was a graduate of Messick High School. He married June Chaillet in January 1962 and lived to celebrate 50 wonderful years with her. Together they had two sons, Jeffrey and Michael. He will join his son Michael in the Hereafter along with his brothers James, Thomas, Robert and sister, Patricia. He is survived by his wife, June, son, Jeffrey, his daughter-in-law, Samara, grandson, Michael, brother, Charles and sister, Lois. A service for Duck for family and close friends will be held on May 23, 2012 at The Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar near I-240 at 12 p.m. For all who would like to pay their respects and celebrate Duck’s life, there will be a funeral procession at 5 p.m. on Beale Street that will begin by the Baptist Church at 4th and Beale and proceed west on Beale Street.
