Jackson - James William “Bill” Royer, age 68, of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Memorial services for Mr. Royer will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel. Military honors will be observed. He was born May 15, 1944 in Milan, TN to the late James H. and Mary Horn Royer. He married Clare Givan and they were married for 44 years. Bill was a graduate of Milan High School, Vanderbilt University where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering, and The University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he received his MBA. He was a captain in the U.S. Army and was retired from H&M Construction Company where he worked for 36 years. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Clare G. Royer of Jackson, TN; daughter, Chris and husband Jeff Copeland, of Nashville, TN; a granddaughter, Vivian Clare Copeland of Nashville, TN; and a brother, Joseph E. Royer and family of Memphis, TN. Visitation with the Royer family will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 2 p.m., one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be directed to the University School of Jackson Endowment Fund, Tennessee Parks and Greenway Foundation, or to the charity of the donor's choice. So sorry to learn of Bill's death today. He was a good man, father and husband as well as a good fraternity brother. Patricia joins me in sending our sincere sympathy and know you will be kept in our prayers.
