Joseph J. Angner “Joe”, 85, was born in a basement apartment in Oak Park, IL to John and Eva Angner. Joe was graduated from Oak Park High School where he played the French Horn and ran track. Upon graduation, Joe joined the Naval Reserves, but deferred enlistment until graduation from Northwestern University in Chicago. The Navy took him to Korea during the Korean Conflict as a LCDR. Eventually, Joe was stationed in Millington, TN where he met his wife, Jane Nix. Joe and Jane raised their family in Memphis, TN while working for the Bryce Corporation. Upon retirement, Joe and Jane moved to Destin, FL where they built a beautiful home on Destin Bay. Joe worked ceaselessly on keeping his yard weed free and a true showplace. Two years ago, Joe returned to Memphis to make more memories with his children after the death of Jane, his wife of 55 years. He is survived by his sons, John (Mary) and Bruce (Debbie), as well as his daughter, Laurie. Joe’s five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren will miss his quiet warmth and loving smile. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Gardens of Germantown for the care they showed Joe. Funeral arrangements will take place at a later date. Any memorials should be sent to the
. Joe can now be found serving toast with jam to Jane and pulling weeds in heaven.
