BEDFORD – Betty C. Folsom, 84, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at CMC in Manchester. She was born in Newton on April 8, 1929, the daughter of Lloyd and Beatrice (Cook) Currier. Betty graduated from Sanborn Seminary, Kingston, in 1947. She was joined in marriage with Donald E. Folsom in 1948. Betty and Donald moved to Bedford in 1949, building the family home and raising three sons. In 1970 Betty took a bookkeeping position with Rochester Germicide. In 1980 she began volunteer work with the Bedford Library, a position which evolved to full time employment.

Betty retired from the Bedford Public Library where she worked for 28 years in the Circulation Department. Other services to the community includes: Bedford Mother's Club President; Scout Den mother; Bedford Ladies Social Circle, President, Secretary and Treasurer; Bedford Unity Club, Secretary; Bedford Garden Club, President; Bedford Little League Auxiliary, President; Bedford Fire Department Auxiliary, President; Bedford Presbyterian Church Elder; Sunday School teacher for 10 years; Supervisor of the Checklist, 15 years; and Friends of the Bedford Library Board member.
Betty is survived by three sons, Craig D. Folsom and partner, Roxana Carter, Kenneth P. Folsom and wife, Debra and Keith C. Folsom and wife Elisa; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Donald, in 2011; and a sister, Eleanor Goldthwaite.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. in Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St., Manchester.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 20, at 10 a.m., in Bedford Presbyterian Church, 4 Church Road, Bedford.
Burial in Bedford Centre Cemetery will take place in the spring.
