FRANKLIN – David D. Higgins Sr., 72, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014.

David was born in Laconia, Oct. 20, 1941, to Fred D. "Sam" Higgins Jr. and Blanche (Bailey) Higgins. He was raised in the Franklin/Sanbornton area and attended Franklin High School. Over a span of 30 years, David worked at Oak Laminates in Franklin and then at Polyclad in Franklin, until his retirement.
David is survived by his son, Fred D. Higgins III of Franklin; daughter, Saralee Sawyer and her husband, Byron, of Hill; a sister, Donna Ramirez of Florida; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his caring friend, Tina (Woods) Guest.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his sister, Carol Hill, of Franklin.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Franklin VFW Post 1698, 26 Peabody Place in Franklin.
