WEARE – Retired Chief Master Sergeant, David H. Nichols, 75, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, peacefully after a lengthy illness. He was born in Goffstown and was a lifelong resident of Weare. He served 38 years in the U.S. Air Force and the N.H.A.N.G. retiring in 1994. He was field maintenance supervisor of the 157th air refueling group at Pease Air Force Base. He was highly decorated during his military career.

David served his community as a part time police officer, fireman and EMT. He was a member of the American legion post 65 in Weare, he was past Master and 50 year member of Harmony Lodge #38 in Hillsborough, and a 32nd degree member of the NH Consistory of Concord and Nashua.

In his life he was a loving husband and caring family man. He is survived by his wife, Corinne (Leeds) Nichols; his sons, Bradley Nichols and wife, Susan and Brian Nichols and wife, Sandy; his stepson Randy Sandmann and wife, Jean; stepdaughters, Susan Belanger and significant other, John Edge all of Weare and Nancy Armstrong and husband, Vandy of Lyndeborough. His grandchildren Callista, Stacy, Madison, Sean, Ben, Ryan, Melissa and Alex; as well as his sisters, Barbara Sweetser and Linda Paige.

David was predeceased by another grandson, Sean Sandmann.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 1, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Weare Christian Church (junction of routes 77 and 114). A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m.

A reception immediately following will be at the American Legion Post 65 in Weare Center.

A spring burial will be held at the convenience or the family.

In lieu of flowers Contributions may be made in David's memory to the American Legion Post 65 scholarship fund, 12 North Stark Highway, Weare NH 03281.
