Roland J. Camire, 86, most recently of Bow, and longtime resident of Concord, passed away at Concord Hospital Saturday, May 11, 2013 due to a sudden illness.

He was born on June 13, 1926 in Laconia, the son of Edmond and Marie (Roy) Camire.
He grew up in Laconia, where he attended local schools, but left school early to serve his country in World War II. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his tour of duty, he joined the Gary S. Dillion Detachment of the Marine Corps League of Concord.
Roland was married to Jeannine Menard on April 18, 1953, they had nine children.
Roland worked at Rumford Press until they closed, then he went to work for the Concord School District as a janitor, retiring in 1992. In his retirement, he enjoyed yard sales, auctions, woodworking and animals.
Roland leaves six sons, Richard of Methuen, Mass., Paul of Ruskin, Fla., Michael of Reading, Calif., David of Bradford, Lucien and Chris both of Farmington; two daughters, Theresa Camire of Penacook and Cathy Bickmore of Rochester; one brother, Lucien Camire of Willmington, N.C.; and one sister, Pauline Gagne of Boscawen; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a very dear companion, Barbara Vachon of Bow; and many many friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jeannine and one son, Robert.
Calling hours will be held Monday, May 20, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main St., Concord.
An interment service with military honors will be held Tuesday, May 21, at 10 a.m., at the New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen.
Memorial donations may be made in Roland's memory to the CRVNA, Hospice Program, 30 Pillsbury St., Concord, 03301.
The Bennett Funeral Home of Concord is in charge of the arrangements.
