Dr. Alden Badal Obituary
Dr. Alden W. Badal Oct. 21, 1929 - July 29, 2013 Resident of Danville. CA Dr. Alden W. Badal passed away peacefully with family by his side in the early morning on July 29th. He was 83 years old. Alden was born and raised in Turlock, CA. He graduated from Turlock High in 1947 and continued his education at Modesto Junior College. He then transferred to San Francisco State and earned his under-grad degree and continued his education at Stanford University where he earned a Doctorate in Psychology. Alden was an educator and began his career as a 6th grade teacher in Newman, CA. After 7 years, Alden joined Oakland Public Schools in 1959 and served in various administrative posts for 19 years. After his service in Oakland, Alden became the San Lorenzo Unified School District's Superintendent of Schools in 1978 and retired from that position after 14 years in 1992. Al's greatest accomplishment and joy was his family. He was married to his wife Elvira for 58 years. She was Al's one and only love and best friend. They raised their family together in Moraga from 1963 through 1978 and then moved to Crow Canyon Country Club in Danville where he lived for the past 35 years. He lost Elvira to cancer in 2008. Al and Elvira had 3 children; their first child, Darlene. Darlene and her husband, Barry, had two children; Mark and Amy. Darlene was lost to breast cancer in the fall of 2007. Their second child, Terry, owned a local landscape company and recently married Erika Holst. Terry was lost to bone cancer this past October. Their third child, Karen, is surviving Alden and the rest of the family. Karen lives in Southern California with her husband Rick and their two children; Ryan and Avery. Al was an active member of Community Presbyterian Church in Danville and was involved in several men's bible studies as well as BSF. He loved spending time with his family, his grandkids, traveling, playing golf and bridge. Al was man of true character. He was loving, generous and had an amazing sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all. We have comfort in knowing he has been reunited with Elvira, Darlene and Terry and the rest of his family in God's great Kingdom. There will be two services to honor Alden's life. Saturday 8/3 at 1:00, a graveside service will be held at Turlock Memorial Park. Sunday 8/18 at 2:00 a memorial service will be held at Community Presbyterian Church in Danville, CA. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the cancer foundation of choice.
