Al Weber, longtime resident of Moraga, died peacefully March 5th, in his home surrounded by his loving children. Born in Oakland, California, to Aloysius and Anne Weber, he attended St Mary's College from 1942 to 1946. He began graduate studies at University of St Louis, but decided to return to the Bay Area to join his father's business, Paramount Electric on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland, to work as a journeyman electrician.
In 1948, Al met and fell in love with Patricia Anne Fischer. Pat was a native of New York and worked as a teacher in the Bay Area when they met. Al and Pat fell deeply in love and were married on April 22, 1950 at Saint Patricks Cathedral in New York. Devoted to one another, they spent their lives together raising 6 children, living first in Lafayette and then moving to Moraga.
During his life Al was always involved in his community. He was Student Body President while attending St Mary's College. He was President of the Temescal Merchants Association. He served as President of the Knights of Columbus and Vice President of the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. During World War II, he joined the Coast Guard Port Security Authority, securing ships that entered San Francisco Bay. Al was a member of the first graduating class of apprentices to journeyman in the Bay Area, with his membership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) starting in 1944. He was also very committed to his religious community and served as chairman on the Saint Monica's Council. Al and Pat were devoted to the church.
Al is survived by his 6 adoring children and their spouses; A.C. Weber, (Glorya), Patti Plymire, (Jerry), Richard Weber; Paul Weber, (Kathy), John Weber, (Betty), and Joan Sasaki, (Ron). Al also leaves behind his 8 beloved grandchildren Ashley, Alex, and Alyssa Weber, Maria, Frances, and Michela Corcorran, Tyler and Ryan Sasaki, and by many loving nieces and nephews. Al is preceded in death by his parents, his beautiful wife Pat, his brother Henry Weber, and sister Anne Mullins.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 13th at 10:30AM at St Monica's Church, Moraga. A viewing will precede this at 9:30AM. Burial services will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Lafayette.
