Ben N Matsui Resident of Walnut Creek Ben passed away on Sun Dec 1, 2013, at age 88. Born and raised in Selma CA, during WWII he and his parents were forced to relocate to a war internment camp in Gila, AZ. After high school in camp, Ben was drafted into the US Army assigned to the highly decorated 100th Battalion-442nd Regimental Combat Team. He was awarded a purple heart and 2 bronze star medals. After the war, he attended USC, and then began a 40 year career in banking attaining various executive positions. He received an MBA from the Univ of Washington. Ben was active in many community organizations: Golden Gate Optimist Club, Rotary Club, Buddhist Church of Oakland, Sequoyah Country Club and USC Alumni Assoc. He retired to Rossmoor in Walnut Creek. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, sons, Randy, Rod, Brian, daughter in law, Jenny and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Sat, Dec 14, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Buddhist Church of Oakland, 825 Jackson St.
