Robert (Bob) Wright passed away peacefully on May 31, 2013 in Concord, his longtime companion Maurine Saudan was at his side.
Bob was born in Maryville, MO to Charles and Ilene (Kemp) Wright. The youngest of five children; His sisters were Lillian, Jean, Katherine and Charlene. His family moved to California and he joined them in 1944 after graduating high school. He returned to Maryville in October 1944 and enlisted in the Navy/Air Force as a gunner. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He then attended Northwest Missouri State and graduated with a Business Degree in 1950. Bob was a 50 year member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union of America, Local 152 Martinez. He worked at the Shell Refinery in Martinez for 27 years before retiring.
Bob enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles and was also interested in coins and trains. He was a volunteer and drove cancer patients as long as he was able. He attended John Muir Pulmonary Rehabilitation since 1997 and volunteered there as well.
He is survived by his companion Maurine. Two children Scott (Dianna) and Susi and three grandchildren Melynda, Joshua and Dustin.
Following his request, his ashes will be scattered on Mt. Diablo. Memorials may be made to John Muir Lung Health Services, 2720 Grant St., Bldg. 1, Suite 3, Concord, CA 94520-2282.
