In Loving Memory of Dolores Lassen Mauritz "Baba" April 12, 1924- June 19, 2013 Resident of Danville Dolores was born in San Jose, California in 1924 when that present day mega- city was a small valley town surrounded by thousands of acres of fruit trees and other produce. She graduated from Castilleja Girls School in Palo Alto and attended the University of Oregon, the University of Georgia and graduated from the prestigious Leland Powers School of Radio and Theater in Boston, MA. Upon graduation from Leland Powers she returned to San Jose where she accepted the position of Children's Programming Director for KXRX. She presented a seven-times-a-week program called "The Story Princess" and delighted her young audience with a wide assortment of stories and music. She went on to become owner, buyer and operator of a beautiful boutique in Los Gatos. Dolores worked in retail for over 35 years. She was women's division manager for the historic San Francisco Abercrombie & Fitch, then as women's wear, buyer and manager of Kaufman's in San Anselmo. The store closed and she joined the staff of I. Magnin & Co. in Walnut Creek. She remained there until the closure in 1995. She worked for Tall Etc. in Walnut Creek and retired at the age of 84. Dolores leaves four grandchildren, Alli, Todd, Alex & Katie. She leaves her beloved daughter Anita and son Stephen. Her son Larry predeceased her in 2003. She leaves Erin, Stephen's wife, and Matt, Alli's husband. She was the foundation of our family. She was a woman of grace and dignity who loved her family, friends, her dog Sadie and her garden. We will always love her and miss her.
