Edward John Hubacher Obituary
Edward John Hubacher
April 15, 1931 - June 11, 2014
Resident of San Ramon
Edward John Hubacher, son of Clayton Howard and Kathyrn Lolich Hubacher, was born and raised in San Francisco with his sisters Karen Hubacher and Sharen Hubacher McGowan. He graduated from Serra High School , and earned his Electrical Engineering Degree from UC Berkeley. The only time he did not live in California was when he served in the Army during the Korean War. Ed's career spanned over 40 years at the Pacific Gas and Electric Company. He started as an entry- level engineer and rose to become responsible for all substation operations for Northern and Central California. On his way to summer vacations, he always enjoyed stopping by to show his family the substations he helped design.
He married life-long love and best friend, Patricia Frances Collins and together raised their children and remained residents of San Ramon for over 40 years. He will be forever loved by his children: Kristi Ann Macias (Jim Macias), Eric John Hubacher, and Kerri Jean Wheeler; and his grandchildren: Daniel Edward Macias, (Vanessa Lotoux Macias), Jennifer Lauren Zink, (Andrew Zink), Ryan Clayton Wheeler, Andrew Patrick Wheeler, and his baby great-granddaughter Zoey Kristiann Zink.
He taught his children and grandchildren by example to stand strong when things are tough; to work hard and strive for a purposeful life; to be proud of your accomplishments, but never boastful; and to take joy in life through simple things. We called him Magic Dad because he was always there to fix everything. He was a smart, gentle and friendly man with a great sense of humor, who most enjoyed sharing his favorite things with his family like: skiing, fishing, riding his motorcycles, windsurfing, gardening, playing the banjo, golfing, playing dominos, watching The Family Feud, traveling around the world with Patti, and just being with his children and grandchildren. We will fill our saddened hearts with the joyful memories of how lucky we all were to have such a wonderful man in our lives.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on July 19th at St. Joan of Arc Church, 2601 San Ramon Valley Boulevard, San Ramon, with a gathering to follow the mass.
In lieu of flowers please have a Manhattan and give to a charity that is meaningful to you and your family.
