Fred Graves Obituary
Fred R. Graves
Jan 18, 1913 ~ June 5, 2012
Resident of San Ramon
Fred R. Graves of San Ramon, Ca passed away on June 5, 2012 and is now at peace with his loved ones in Heaven. Fred was the loving father of Gary Graves (Elaine) and Linda Hults (Walter) and grandfather to Andrew Graves and Lauren Graves. Born in New York, New York, he spent his first 83 years on the East Coast, most of that time living in Glen Head, New York. Fred worked for Manufacturers Hanover Bank for 45 years as a Personal Trust Accountant in New York City. He retired in 1974. Fred was also a veteran of World War II and was awarded a Silver Star and Bronze Star for gallantry in action serving in Company B of the 7th Regiment in France and Germany. His family will be forever proud of his courage under fire and willingness to fight for his country. In 1996, Fred moved to Bozeman, Montana to be closer to his children who had moved west. Unfortunately, he lost the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Edna soon after, but remained in Bozeman for 11 years and grew to love the people of the "Big Sky Country" and the beauty of the region. At age 94, Fred made his final move to San Ramon to spend his final years with his son and family. Fred will be remembered by his family and friends for his kindness and willingness to go the extra mile for people. A true gentleman, wherever Fred settled, he was loved by those around him. Few people could match Fred's positive outlook on life. Complaints never passed through his lips and his main concern in life right to the end was how he could help and contribute to the betterment of his family and friends. It is hard to imagine life without this great family man, role model and decorated veteran. We will miss you Dad but know you are in a better place. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass celebrating Fred's life Monday July 9th at 10:30 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church 2601 San Ramon Valley Blvd. San Ramon.
