Gail Powers Apr. 1951 Mar. 2014. Resident of Martinez Gail Douglas Powers passed away on Friday, March 14 after a courageous battle with Lung Cancer. Gail was a friend to many, and is deeply missed. Gail was born and raised in Winthrop, Massachusetts, the eldest of 6 brothers and sisters. Soon after graduating from Winthrop High School, she moved to California, and settled into life in the Bay Area. Gail was a Beautiful and Generous Soul who touched a large number of lives. She continued to work to improve the world, working for Habitat for Humanity, joining the Martinez Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and giving her time and heart to countless friends and strangers. Gail was also active in two organizations in Martinez: The Martinez Yacht Club, and The Women of the Moose-Martinez Chapter 519, volunteering for several offices in that charitable organization. Gail was a fierce pet lover and advocate, and adopted or rescued many dogs and cats over the years, who reflected the love back to her and David. In retirement Gail humored David's love of travel, sharing many adventures in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Texas, Florida, and Mexico. Gail loved warm sunny days, especially those spent on beaches.
