Jerry was born and raised in San Francisco. He attended Lincoln High School and graduated in 1952. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge. Jerry was proud of his 40 year career in the elevator industry, having achieved a high level of management and obtained two patents to his name with Otis Elevator Company. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will leave a lasting legacy by the way he lived his life: modeling faith, loyalty, generosity and friendship. Jerry has lived in San Ramon since 1993. He was a parishioner and servant of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, a docent at the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland, on the board of directors at San Damiano Retreat Center, a member of SIRS and gave generously of his time and money to many other organizations. He loved to travel, ski and ride his bike. He was preceded in passing by his wife of 57 years, Patricia. He is survived by his fiancée Toni Donnelley, daughters Karen Mason, JoAnn (Mark) Hayden, Laura (Roger) Sitcler, and son Rob (Terryl) Fried. Jerry has 10 grandchildren, Charlotte (Fran) Serrano, Colin Mason, Jessica (Chris) McCormick, Matt Beck, Erik Beck, Kimberly Fried, Amanda Fried, Andrew Hayden, Sean Hayden, Amy Sitcler and 6 great-grandchildren, Jacqueline, Xochil , Frankie, Logan, Jude and Harper.
A memorial Mass will be said in his honor at 11:00 am on Friday, May 23rd at St. Joan of Arc Church, 2601 San Ramon Valley Blvd. San Ramon 94583. Friends who would like to make a donation in Jerry's name may send it to St. Joan's or to San Damiano Retreat Center, PO Box 767, Danville, CA 94526
