Gus Kyriazi passed away on Monday, July 22 of heart disease. Gus was born and raised in Benicia, California. He attended Benicia High School and excelled in baseball, basketball and tennis. A bid for semi-pro baseball was cut short when he enlisted in the army in 1942 serving in
World War II
in England, France, Germany and the Philippines as a Sergeant.
Gus is survived by his loving wife Beverly, children Paul (Fumiko) of Tokyo, Gary of Arizona, Linda of Los Angeles, granddaughter Mariko and sister Virginia Lagiss of Woodside, California in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Following his discharge from the army, he relocated to Bay Point where he worked at Dow Chemical for 35 years. Gus enjoyed both duck and deer hunting. Gus will be remembered by his family, friends and colleagues for his kindness, generosity and warm sense of humor. After his retirement, he and Beverly travelled the world. In April, they celebrated 70 years of marriage with family.
Friends and family are invited to a rosary on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 6:00pm and funeral liturgy Friday, August 2, 2013 at 10:00am both days at Our Lady Queen of the World Church, Bay Point. Committal services following at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Lafayette. In lieu of flowers, donations to Queen of the World building fund or
