Lee Laird Obituary
Lee Edwin Laird Jan. 16, 1935 - Jul. 16, 2013 Resident of Brentwood Lee Edwin Laird passed away peacefully at the age of 78 while surrounded by his devoted wife, daughters, sons-in-law, and grand children. Lee was born in Stockton, California and grew up on Bradford Island. He was a 1953 graduate of Liberty High School where he played baseball and football and was later honored to be inducted as a member of the Liberty Athletic Hall of Fame. He attended college at UC Davis. He married Jane Ann Nunn, and together they enjoyed traveling, singing Broadway show tunes, playing tennis and spending time at Lake Tahoe and in Santa Cruz. Lee also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially his daily 5:00 P.M. coffee dates with his friends and driving his grandchildren to school when they were small. Retired from a 60 year farming career, Lee was known for growing apricots, strawberries, walnuts and cherries and was one of the founding members of Harvest Time. For many years he was active in the community, serving as a member of the Rotary Club, on the Brentwood Union School District Board of Trustees, and on the Board of the Irrigation District. Lee is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jane, devoted children Tobi Benz (Jack), Susan Laird, Tracy Kumaishi (Stuart), and grandchildren Andrew (Jenny), Emily, and Ted Benz, Perry Laird Continente (father, Perry Continente), and Grace and Zachary Kumaishi. He is also survived by his sisters Cora Davis of Arizona and Jacquie (Jim) Price of Maine. He will be missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 27th from 1-4 P.M. at the Laird family home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Liberty High School Library at this address: Liberty High School Library Fund. c/o Prinipal Pat Walsh 850 Second Street Brentwood, CA 94513
