July 15, 1922 - April 24, 2013
Resident of Walnut Creek
Mae Louise passed away peacefully in her home of Manor Care, Rossmoor Pkwy., Walnut Creek, CA at the age of 90. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mae attended the University of Minnesota where she belonged to the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and met her husband, Ralph whom she married in 1943. Mae and Ralph also resided in Illinois and Utah before settling in the Bay Area of California. They were amongst the early residents of Walnut Creek's Rossmoor Leisure World; enjoying Rossmoor clubs, activities and golf for over 40 years.
For 30 years, Mae performed administrative work for the Contra Costa County Office of Emergency Services. She lived an active and dedicated life of volunteer service in the Campfire Girls Organization, the Grace Presbyterian Church and at the John Muir Rossmoor Medical Clinic. Mae and Ralph loved traveling and enjoyed numerous trips and cruises to Japan, Canada, Mexico, Europe, the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, St Lawrence waterways and Hawaii.
Mae and Ralph celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary prior to Ralph's passing in 1998. She is survived by three daughters: Sue Wallace, Sandi Tieslau and Linda Recktenwald. Also survived by her grandchildren: Bryan Tieslau, Scott Wallace (Barbara), Brittany Tieslau Norwood (Rodney) and by her extended family of Don Wallace (Claudia) and Marlee Rippee. Besides her husband, Ralph, Mae was preceded in death by granddaughter, Bridget Tieslau.
Mae enjoyed the celebration of her life with friends and family at her 90th birthday party last July. No services will be held per her request.
In her life, Mae shared her mother's favorite prayer, "Let me walk my life in Love today, that I may walk with the Angels tomorrow" ... She left a legacy of love that was returned by all who knew her and is most certainly walking with Angels.
