Nancy Ruth Rex|
Aug. 10, 1934 ~ June 21, 2014
Resident of Walnut Creek
Nancy was born in Milwaukee, WI and died peacefully in Walnut Creek. She met the love of her life, Richard Rex, at the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1955. The two married 10 months later, first spending 18 months on Guam, where Nancy taught 3rd grade, and then moving to Rancho Cordova, CA, where they had three children. In 1974, they relocated to Walnut Creek.
Nancy's greatest passion was her art. After 10 years of crafting decorative holiday heirlooms, she rekindled her love of painting by creating abstract pieces that family members and friends treasure. An avid reader and gourmet cook, Nancy instilled the love of good food in her entire family.
After a 2009 Alzheimer's diagnosis, Nancy took part voluntarily in an 18-month drug study. Even as she worsened, she could always recognize her loved ones, for which we are grateful.
Nancy is survived by her husband Richard, children Susan King (Doug), Robin Lewis (Dave) and Erich, grandchildren Chris and Tori Lewis, and brother John Cheek.
In Nancy's memory, share a good meal and quality time with those you love.
