Dick Chapman was born in Illinois in 1930. He graduated from Herrin High School, joined the Army and served in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean war. After his service to his country he graduated from Southern Ilinois University, then became a registered physical therapist after graduating from the PT program at Stanford University in 1957.
He married Agnes JoAnne Calcaterra on Sept. 6, 1952, and fathered three children. Dick has been a resident of San Pablo since 1958. He was a youth baseball and basketball coach for many years. Dick was a physical therapist practicing in Richmond and San Pablo until his retirement in 1995.
Dick is survived by his wife, JoAnne Chapman, his sister, Sammie Lee Baker, his children, Richard Charles Chapman, Randall William Chapman, Roby Rae Berninzoni, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was a GREAT patriot, husband, and father.
Friends and family are invited to the funeral service on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at 2:00 pm at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 MidwayRoad, Dixon, CA. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in memory of Richard E. Chapman to the Wounded Warrior Project via its website www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
