Died on May 12 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Livermore. He was 86. Born January 10, 1928 in Wichita Falls, Texas, Sinclair is remembered by his family as a loving husband, a wonderful stepfather and a proud retired veteran. Sinclair proudly served in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam, serving in two branches of the Armed Forces. He enlisted in the Navy when he was 17 years old and served for 8 years. He spent the following 22 years in the Air Force, retiring with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. A highly decorated veteran, Sinclair was awarded two purple hearts, two bronze stars and numerous service medals. After retiring from the Air Force, Sinclair went to work at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Nevada Test Site as a senior technologist in the Weapons Division's Mechanical Engineering Group. He also served as a supervisor in the Mechanical Engineering Group supporting the Novette and Nova Laser projects. Sinclair enjoyed western movies, especially those starring John Wayne, reading historical books, building model ships, and traveling with his wife Marilyn to Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean. Robert loved to share many of his military stories from all over the pacific theater. Sinclair was a Shriner, volunteering many hours at the Shriner Children's Hospital in Sacramento. He also was very involved with the Masonic Temple and achieved the level of a 32nd degree Mason.
Robert is survived by his wife Marilyn of 31 years, his sister Rosemary Stearns of Texas, five children and four stepchildren, eight grandchildren and his beloved Corgi Spud.
Memorial services will be June 6, at 2:00 pm at the Mesonic Lodge in Livermore, 119 S Livermore Ave Livermore, CA 94550-4649 (925) 447-2727. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
