Born January 21, 1933 at French Camp, California. Died January 20, 2013 after a brief stay at the Bruns House Hospice in Alamo.
Ron graduated from Armijo High School in Fairfield, Ca. Circa 1950. He then worked for Standard Oil Gas station in Vacaville while attending Sacramento Sate College; graduating in 1955.
He enlisted in the US Army, spending 18 months in Korea. Upon returning in 1957 Ron returned to work for Chevron Oil in the Aviation Fuels Division, Aerial Firefighters Accounts department. He retired after 40 years of service in 1991, becoming a member of the Chevron Retirees Club.
Ron's hobbies included boating, fishing, duck hunting, computers, RV clubbing, and playing the organ. He was the secretary of the local Allegro RV Club.
He is survived by; his wife of 34 years Esther Jacquez-Gordon-Sandman-Smith, two step sons Jess and Roger Gordon, step daughters Sharon Madison, Rosie Picchi, Judy and Carol Sandman. Also his sister Nugget and David Skates, niece Christa Johnson, and brother Thomas Skates. He has 14 step grand-children and 2 step great grand-children.
Memorial Service Friday, January 25, 2013, 10:30 AM at St. Bonaventure Church 5562 Clayton Rd. Concord, CA. Donations to Saint Judes Hospital, in lieu of flowers, would be appreciated.
