Wayne Richard Gietzen 75, a resident of Concord since 1966 entered into heaven leaving a legacy of love, kindness, and caring for his family, friends and to all that he came in contact with. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Bette of 38 years and his Son Neal. Wayne is survived by his daughter Suzanne McDevitt of Concord, son Craig Gietzen daughter in-law Sandy of Concord and daughter in-law Teri Gietzen of Antioch. He leaves behind six loving Grandchildren, Ryan Gietzen (Emily), Shelby Gietzen, Evan Gietzen, Billy McDevitt, Tommy McDevitt, Timmy McDevitt and Great-granddaughter Leila Gietzen. Wayne was also survived by his sisters Arlene Williams, (Don) and Sandy Barber.
Wayne was in the United States Air Force for 4 #189; years, dedicated to God, Country Family. He was an active member of St Agnes Catholic Church. Wayne spent much of his mid-life devoted to the Concord Athletic League where his was Co-Founder President. To Wayne and his wife Bette, along with their three children, it became a way of life.
Wayne was a caring man, a patriotic man, a humble man and a man of dignity.
It would be hard to imagine a more loving husband than Wayne or a more dedicated Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. Wayne set a high standard of love, morality and patriotism for his family to follow. He lived his life as an example.
Funeral Services will be at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3966 Chestnut Ave., Concord, CA 94519, Friday, January 18 , 2013 with visitation at 10am with Funeral Liturgy to follow at 11am. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette, Ca. In lieu of flowers you may donate to John Muir Health Foundation.
