William J. Conway Obituary
William J. Conway Dec. 15, 1917 - Feb. 7, 2014 Resident of Alamo Died peacefully at home after a brief illness. Born and raised in San Francisco, son of Irish immigrant parents Michael and Molly Conway, he attended St. Paul's Grammar School, Christian Brothers Novitiate at Mont La Salle and Sacred Heart High School (class of '36). He served in the US Army and Air Force during WWII and the Korean Conflict. While on leave, he met the love of his life, Mary Kathryn. They married exactly one year later and remained happily together until her death in 1992. A graduate of Chase College, he did post-graduate work at Xavier University, Cincinnati. In 1958, the family moved to CC County, where Bill helped open the Aerojet plant in San Ramon, eventually becoming comptroller. He generously gave his time to many ministries at St. Isidore Catholic Church, the early years of SRV Little League and Jr. Achievement. Bill is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Gayle and Tim Cusick, Jan Conway, Cheryl and Blair Edsen, grandchildren Riley and Jenna, sister Peg Fama, brother Joe, and many nieces and nephews. Two sisters and six brothers preceded him in death. A true gentleman, Bill loved God, his family, his country, fishing, golf, his roses, feeding the birds, a glass of good wine and Notre Dame football. Funeral Mass will be held on Sat., Feb. 15 at 10:30 am at St. Isidore's, Danville, with a reception in the Ministry Center to follow.
