William Egan Morrow July 8, 1945 ~ Nov. 21, 2012 Resident of San Leandro William Egan Morrow, 67, former Piedmont resident, died peacefully at his home in San Leandro, California on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, after a six month battle with Burkitt's lymphoma. Bill was born July 8, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA and is survived by his wife Marty, of San Leandro, and his children Marie, of New York City, and Jacob, of Los Angeles. He is also survived by his brother Patrick Morrow of Auburn, AL. The Morrow family resided in Piedmont for 27 years and had just moved to San Leandro in 2011. Bill graduated from UC Davis in 1968 with a degree in English and psychology. He received an advanced degree in banking from the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington. Bill was a professional classical musician (french horn) for more than twenty years, performing predominantly with the Oakland Symphony. His career in banking extended more than twenty-five years at The Mechanics Bank and Greater Bay Bank. Bill was an avid Giants fan and consummate baseball hobbyist. Bill was a great conversationalist and also enjoyed reading, especially matters of politics and history. He loved listening to classical music. Bill was very involved in the lives of his children through sports and music as they were growing up. He continued to be a close confidant for them into their adulthood. Friends may visit family at a memorial service at the Piedmont Community Hall, 711 Highland Ave., Piedmont, CA 94611 on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Donations may be made in Bill's memory to the Music Department of the Piedmont Unified School District.
