Rev. Bill K. Tarter

COSHOCTON: Rev. Bill K. Tarter went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 10:50 A.M. at Coshocton, Ohio.

He was the loving husband of (Margaret) Mae Tarter (nee Shook) whom he married in 1970. He was predeceased by his first wife Wanda (nee Bond) and a brother J. Sanford Tarter.

Bill was born in a farm house in Parker, Texas on October 4, 1923. After graduating from Amarillo High School he came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. During WW II he enlisted into the U. S. Army Medical Corp and it was there that he clearly recognized God's call to serve as a missionary to India. After an honorable discharge he attended Moody Bible Institute and Baylor University. Bill spent 20 years in India among the Telugu speaking people, after which he became President of International Missions (now Christar International). He was a member of New Life Bible Fellowship Church in Oley, PA where he served as Elder, Bible Class teacher and Pastor of Counseling.

In addition to his wife Mae, he is survived by his daughter, Rena (Dwight) Jarboe of Coshocton; son, Bill (Deborah) Tarter of Gainesville, FL; five grandchildren, Billy (Denise) Tarter, Andrew and Cynthia Tarter, Jen (Jason) Robinson, Scott (Stephanie) Jarboe; five great-grandchildren, Chanelle and Javin Robinson, Kiara Jarboe, Jasper and Ruby Tarter; a brother, Wayne (Betty) Tarter of Amarillo, TX; many nieces and nephews.

Bill's great joy in life was sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and seeing people accept Jesus Christ as Savior.

A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 7, 2014, at the Free Funeral Home, Coshocton with Rev. Calvin Searles officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Monday, prior to the funeral service. A Memorial Service will be held at New Life Bible Fellowship Church in Oley, PA at

11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
