Earl Raymond Etter

WEST LAFAYETTE: Earl Raymond Etter, 78, West Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, January 30.

Earl was born in Newcomerstown on April 17, 1934, a son of the late Charles W. and Helen M. Shyrock Etter.

He was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School, class of 1953, and an Army veteran. He returned to civilian life in 1958 and began working as a railroad conductor with the N & S Railroad for over 36 years before his 1990 retirement. Following retirement, Earl was employed as a security officer with the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital for several years. He was a member of the Newcomerstown American Legion, the Newcomerstown Veterans' Honor Guard, and was a life member of the Newcomerstown Elks. Earl was also a member of the Newcomerstown Lone Star Masonic Lodge # 175. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, including hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his brother, Reuben M. Etter, Newcomerstown.

Earl is survived by his wife, Sandra J. "Sandy" Treasure Etter, West Lafayette, whom he married on September 14, 1956. Also surviving are a daughter and two sons: Lisa K. (Dr. David) Booth, Newcomerstown, Brian K. (Jody) Etter, Pataskala, and Scott A. (Lori) Etter, Chambersburg, PA.; Earl also leaves four grandchildren, and two sisters.

Funeral services to celebrate Earl's life will be held Monday, February 4, 1:00 PM, in the Ourant Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Waggoner Cemetery, Coshocton County, where the Newcomerstown Veterans' Honor Guard will conduct grave side services. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday evening, 4 until 7 PM, in the funeral home, and on Monday from Noon until the 1:00 PM funeral.

Masonic services will be held on Sunday afternoon, 3:45 PM, in the funeral home.
