"A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken." Proverbs 15:13. Mitch quoted this verse often after his loving wife of 37 years, Lucille, passed away merely nine months ago, which nearly broke his heart. Mitch was a part of "The Greatest Generation". He was an honorable man with great integrity. He proudly served in World War II and loved our country. Mitch also loved his wife and family dearly, but most importantly, he loved God. He would have been 92 years old on September 1. He led a wonderful life, filled with many adventures. He will be missed by all who loved him.

Mitch's ashes are laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery, and a service will be held at the Houston National Cemetery Chapel on Friday, October 25 at 2 PM. Those attending are asked to honor Mitch and other veterans by wearing patriotic colors. You are invited to leave a written condolence to the family on the website of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis at www.shmfh.com.
