Mackie Neal Brown, 80, passed away in his sleep at home on Friday, April 11, 2014 in Willis, Texas. He was born September 3, 1933 to Leslie and Edith Brown in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He moved with his family to Abilene, Texas when he was three. On June 3, 1959 he married Sandra Campbell Wertz Brown. Mackie lived an interesting life. He served in the Army; graduated with a degree in mountaineering from the Colorado School of Mines; graduated with a BBA from the University of Texas; was a successful grocer man; supporter of Boy Scouts of America; worked for the Montgomery County Sheriffs Department; North Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department; was a master gardener and volunteered through his church at the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity. Mackie was a wealth of information on a variety of things, and was known as "Mr. Encyclopedia". He enjoyed dancing, nature, and dearly loved his family.
Mackie was preceded in death by his wife, Sandi. Survivors include his son Cary Neal Brown and spouse Janet Leigh Davidson Brown with children Jason Neal Brown and Kristin Leigh Brown Dean. Son Bryant Wilson Brown and spouse Angie Ra'chell Autrey Brown, with children Bryant Austin Brown, Deborah Ashlynn Brown, Shelby Angelia Brown and Paul Bryant Brown.
