Funeral services for Perry Cox will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Houston National Cemetery on Veteran's Memorial Drive in Houston, TX with Pastor George Oberdorf officiating. There will be a viewing and visitation beginning at 6 pm on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the McNutt Funeral Home in Conroe, TX.

Perry was born in Waco, Texas to Oran Witt and Edna Kirk Cox. He attended Midland High School. After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and served for three years. In 1968, he attended Sul Ross State University, in Alpine, TX. In his early adult life, he taught survival skills in the North China Sea, and taught himself to fly while he was in Okinawa. He climbed the mountains of Nevada and scuba-dived in Lake Mead. He was extremely intelligent, well-read, and taught and mentored those around him. He was a technical writer by trade, but was very interested in all types of computer technology. Above all else, he was a Christian. He lived to tell others about Jesus. He took every opportunity that he could, letting those around him know that Jesus was the way to heaven. Although he was prepared and excited for Jesus' return, he will now have to watch from the other side of the clouds.

Perry was preceded in death by his father, Oran Witt Cox, his sister Janice, and his son, James Phillip Cox. Perry leaves behind his loving wife of 28 years, Debbie Cox, librarian of Spring, Texas; mother, Edna Kirk Drisko of Waco, Texas; daughter, Shannon Carole and her husband Michael Blane of Houston, Texas; grand-children Stephen McKenzie, Andrew James and wife Taylor, Alexis Rachelle, and Ryan Matthew Blane; great-grandchildren Landyn Laurell and Hunter James Blane; and nephew Kelly Jack Taylor.
