Travis was a professor of English and a PhD candidate at Louisiana State University working in contemporary theory and continental philosophy. He was looking forward to teaching a course uniquely designed by him; "Critical Strategies, Philosophy & Literature in the 20th Century. He graduated from Montgomery High School in Montgomery, Texas, but always considered Austin his home. Travis shared his love for the water through teaching and coaching young swimmers in the Montgomery area. He has a BA in English from the University of Texas and an MA in Creative writing from the University of North Texas. He enthusiastically studied the ethical and methodological tensions surrounding the Freudo-Lacanian legacy and its many discontents. His studies included but were not limited to; Lacanian Psychoanalysis, Systems Theory & Cybernetics, and Contemporary Rhetorical Theory. He passionately wrote fiction and literary criticism. You can find his work in A Cappella Zoo, Blue Lake Review, the Journal of Texas Women Writers, North Texas Review, Spector Magazine, the American Literary Review blog, and the e-book series from Fiction Attic Press. His short story, " A Concerned Friend ", is set for publication this coming November in Spark - A Creative Anthology.

He is survived by his parents, Hal "Spike" & Kristi Hubbs; brother, Andrew Hubbs, sister, Madison Hubbs; grandmothers, Mary Carol Woodie, Lois Russell; grandfather, Hal Hubbs and step-grandmother, Therese Hubbs. Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 21st at 2 pm in the Chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery, Texas. In lieu of flowers, A Travis Hubbs Memorial Scholarship Fund is being set up through the First Bank of Conroe for any donations.
