AGE: 98 • Medford

Eugene Raymond III, 98, of Medford, NJ and Palm City, FL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17th 2014, with his family by his side. He was born in Philadelphia to the late Eugene Raymond Jr. and Sarah Ulrich. Eugene was a 1938 graduate of the Wharton School at UPenn and was the President of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He proudly served his country as a pilot in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII, attaining the rank of Captain. He joined the Atlantic Refining Co., and after 37 years, he retired and went on to become the founder of Majestic Oil Co. Eugene had the privilege of serving as the Mayor of Pennsauken and as a New Jersey State Assemblyman. He was a devoted Mason for 60 years, and a longtime member of the Merchantville Country Club and The Haddonfield Club. He and his wife were world travelers, and were proud to have visited all 50 states. Eugene was an avid tennis player, golfer, and enjoyed spending time with his family at his home in Harvey Cedars.

He is predeceased by his sisters Dorothea Martin and Helene Mitchell. He leaves behind to carry on his legacy, his devoted wife of 72 years, Virginia Raymond (nee Berger) of Medford, NJ and Palm City, FL; beloved children Virginia Phillips of Medford, Gene Raymond and wife Diane of Palm City, FL, and Stephen Raymond and wife Mary Alison Albright of Hainesport; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 10AM-12PM, followed by a 12PM Memorial Service at Inglesby & Sons Funeral Home, 2426 Cove Road, Pennsauken NJ 08109 .

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army by visiting donate.salvationarmyusa.org.
