James H. Scheffler, 89, from Pennsauken, NJ, son of the late Robert F. and Mildred R. survived by beloved wife of 66 years, Mildred T. and sons, James E. and Scott J. of Blackwood daughter Maureen F. of Atco and sister Erma Costello of Rockledge Fla. He served in the US Navy during WW2 from 1942-1946 as a navy signalman on the USS Whippet. He was active in Pennsauken Twp politics serving as both district leader and county committeeman. He also served on the library and sewerage commission. He worked 34 years as chief lineman for PSEG. He then worked as superintendent of the Pennsauken Twp. Highway Department . He was integral in the development and placement of leaf compost facility in Pennsauken which was named James H. Scheffler Leaf Compost Facility in his honor. Was active in PYAA little league baseball serving as both coach and manager and was also a cub scout leader.
"Scheff" as he was affectionately known, loved fishing, gardening and playing ball with his dogs Marlie and Candy. He was also a huge Flyers, Nascar and Notre Dame football fan. For all that knew and loved Scheff he will be truly missed.
