James T. Finnegan, of Glassboro, NJ, formerly of Audubon, NJ, passed away peacefully on Feb. 15, 2013, at the age of 64, two days after the death of his beloved wife Dorothy May Finnegan "Dottie" (nee Miller). Dear son of the late John E. Finnegan, Sr., and the late Margaret M. Finnegan (nee Connell). Loving father of the late Shellie Finnegan, and Charles Finnegan (Kari) of Swedesboro, NJ. Dear step-father of Kimberly Meszaros (Greg) of Hamilton Sq., NJ, and David Galloway (Renee) of Port Charlotte, FL. Loving brother of the late John E. Finnegan, Jr. and Marianne (Jim) of Audubon, NJ. Proud Pop of Paige Meszaros, Ryan Meszaros, Chance Galloway, Savanna Galloway, Rylee Finnegan, and Kassidy Finnegan. He is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews, as well as his dog Buttons.
Jim was a Decorated U.S. Army Veteran, as he honored the Nation with his service in Vietnam, as a LRRP with the Fourth Infantry Division. For his bravery he received numerous medals, including the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and three Bronze Stars. Former owner of Shamrock Oil, Jim worked construction most recently for American Asphalt Co. of Mt. Ephraim, NJ. He loved boating in Atlantic City on his boat "Dottie May I?", and driving in his new Camaro. He loved watching his son's athletic events and enjoyed spending time and playing games with his grandchildren. Most of all, Jimmy loved watching movies with his precious Dottie and visiting with friends and family at the backyard parties they hosted. His loving presence will be missed by many.
A viewing for both he and his wife will be Saturday, Feb. 16th, 12:30 PM- 2:00 PM at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012, where a prayer service will follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated in his memory to the South Jersey Vietnam Veterans Association, P.O. Box 188, Glassboro, NJ 08028.
