Joseph E. Fitzpatrick
AGE: 87 • Pennsauken
Joseph E. Fitzpatrick, 87, of Pennsauken, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, July 21, 2014. Joseph was born in Philadelphia to the late Joseph Fitzpatrick and Catherine Moy. He graduated from West Catholic Boys High School and enlisted in the US Navy to serve during WWII. Upon his discharge, he began his working career with Curtis Publishing Co. and ended working as a Property Manager with Radnor Asset Management Co. He retired in October of 1992 as property manager of 10 & 11 Penn Center in Center City Philadelphia. His retirement years included 14 years as President of the Pennsauken Historical Society and many years as head usher at St. Cecilia's Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 68 in Merchantville. Joe was a true Irish gentleman who embodied the value of hard work. He was faithful to God and his country. Joe's greatest love was his family and friends, with whom he spent his last weekend in celebration of his 87th birthday.
He is predeceased by his son David. He leaves behind to carry on his legacy, his wife of 64 years, Beverly Fitzpatrick (nee Busch); children Karen (Trish), Joseph Jr., Mike (Kathy), Thomas (Baron) and daughter-in-law Mary; beloved grandchildren Colleen McNamee (Bob), Kevin (Sarah), Katie Dickerson (Eric), David (Brittany) and Megan; great grandchildren Jake and Claire McNamee and a girl on the way.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 6-8PM and Friday, July 25, 2014 from 9:30-10:30AM at Inglesby & Sons Funeral Home, 2426 Cove Road, Pennsauken NJ 08109. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11AM at Mary, Queen of All Saints. Joe will be laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery in Pennsauken.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in Joseph's name to the Pennsauken Historical Society, PO Box 56, Pennsauken NJ 08110 or the American Legion Post 68, PO Box 1411, Merchantville NJ 08109.
