Rosamond "Roz" J. Sanderson died February 19, 2014. Born in Wooster, Ohio in 1924, daughter of Marion Love and the Reverend Archibald A. Johnston, a former President of Geneva College (PA) and Professor of Sociology at Wooster College (Ohio), she volunteered for service in the Navy and served as Pharmacy Mate, 2nd Class at Bethesda Naval Hospital 1944-46. She completed degrees in Political Science at Connecticut College for Women (B.A., 1948) and the University of Michigan (M.A., 1950).
Rosamond's work experience included Research Instructor, Wharton School, and Medical Editor, Wistar Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. In later years, she indulged life-long loves of literature, travel, culture and history as a seller of rare books and antique maps.
Roz, a talented painter and pianist, is survived by her husband, James L. Sanderson, whom she married in 1949, and two sons, Stuart and Scott.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Inglis House, 2600 Belmont Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19131, where Stuart resides.
