A lifelong resident of Williamstown, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on June 6, 2014.
Steve was a graduate of Glassboro High School and received his Mortuary Science Degree from Eckels College in Philadelphia. He was a former coach for Monroe Twp. Little League, a former member of the Williamstown Rotary Club, Williamstown Kiwanis Club, West Jersey Funeral Directors Assoc., NJ State Funeral Directors Assoc. and the National Funeral Directors Assoc. He is a member of the Williamstown Lodge# 166 F&AM. He is a Director Emeritus of the Gloucester County Federal Savings Bank. Steve and his late wife, Anita, founded the Farnelli Funeral Home in Williamstown in 1960. The Farnelli Funeral Home continues to be owned and operated by the Farnelli family. Steve continued to be actively involved in the family business, until his health declined. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed many years of traveling, spending winters in Florida and vacationing with his wife. He was an avid Phillies fan.
Beloved husband for 58 years of the late Anita G. Farnelli (nee Terzian). Devoted father of Anita Diane Deschler (George) of Franklinville, Sheryl Sofia (Bruce) of Washington Twp., Stephen Farnelli, Jr. (fiancé Ellen) of Williamstown and Donald Farnelli of Williamstown. Loving son of the late Alfonso and Goldie Farnelli. Dear brother of the late William "Bud" Farnelli (Tish) and Dr. Donald Farnelli (Joyce). Dear brother in law of the late Alice Hilley, Laura Sarafian, Pauline Matese (Tom) and Charlie Terzian (Eleanor). Loving grandfather of Stephenie LaVasseur (Brent), Joel Sofia, Noelle Starr (Adam), Donny Farnelli, Jr. and Joey Farnelli. Loving great-grandfather of AJ Starr, Levi Starr, Eliana Sofia, Shiloh Sofia and Alexis LaVasseur.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 9:00 pm and Wednesday from 9:00 - 10:00 am at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown. A service will be held at 11:00am at the Gloucester County Community Church, 359 Chapel Heights Road, Washington Twp. (Sewell), NJ. Burial will follow in Cross Keys Methodist Cemetery, Williamstown.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Independent International Gospel Missions, c/o Edward M. Abbott, III, PO Box 2023, Harlingen, TX 78551 a missionary family that Steve and Anita supported for many years.
