Thomas F. Durney, 100, of Hammonton passed away on Tuesday in the Heritage Assisted Living Facility in Hammonton. Born in Wallington, NJ, he lived in Hammonton for 62 years. He was a graduate of St. John's High School in Patterson, NJ. Mr. Durney was the operator and glass grinder at Becton Dickinson Company in Rutherford, NJ. He was a member of St. Joseph's RC Church, where he was a Past President of their Parish Council. Mr. Durney was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Palotti Council, where he was a Past Grand Knight. He also was a member of the Serra Club- the USA Council and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Mr. Durney was predeceased by his wife Elsie (nee Pinto) Durney, and his 5 brothers, William, Dennis, Martin, Emmett and James. He is survived by his daughter Barbara LaSasso and her husband Joseph of Hammonton, his son Martin Durney and his wife Bernadette of Berlin, six grandchildren, Gina, Kimberly, Martin, Thomas, Kathleen; Colleen and ten great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 11:00am in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish, Church of St. Joseph's 226 French St., where a viewing will be held from 9:30am until 11:00am. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's High School, 328 Vine St., Hammonton or to St. Mary of Mt.
